how to use language packs to type in another language?

I would like to type in the Hungarian language using my desktop PC.  Today I downloaded and installed the Hungarian language pack.  I am running windows 10.  Once the language pack was downloaded and installed I tried to type in notepad and it still types in English.  what is my next step in order to type messages and emails in Hungarian?  Also, do I need a specialized Hungarian keyboard?

The Language pack is for how your Windows are displayed. When you type something in English, it will stay english. The language pack doesn't translate what you are typing. You have to type in hungarian to begin with.

The keyboard layout should be the same as the keyboard you are using. If you change it's layout to something else, the keys will not be in the correct place, unless you also get a real keyboard that corresponds to the layout you want to use.

If you go to Settings ―> Time & language ―> Region & language ―> Add a language you can add Hungarian.

Once it is installed, you can select the same settings and under Languages click Hungarian and click Set as default.
Do you want Hungarian as a default?
If not DO NOT want Hungarian as the default language, then DO NOT set Hungarian as the default, as suggested in the previous comment.

Once International language pack(s) have been enabled or installed, go to the toolbar and left click the alphabet "A" and select the keyboard language you wish to type, then when finished typing, reset the keyboard input back to your usual language (left click the alphabet and select the keyboard language you wish to use)

To type in Hungarian characters, you'll need an according keyboard, either physically or on-screen, and switch to that layout. The only other way is by using e.g. charmap to select special characters, or use copy & paste from a text file for those characters. Whatever suites you best should be used.

I am not clear on how to select the keyboard language.  How do I do that?  I do have a Hungarian keyboard and at this time my keyboard is a conventional keyboard.

If you have installed additional keybaord layouts, you should see the language bar in your taskbar, showing e.g. EN for English - US. Here you should be able to switch to Hungarian.
The keyboard layouts are available without having to install language packs. Open the control Panel, then select "Language", and then select the top language selection you have there and click on "options". Now you get "Add an input method". Click on that and then you will get a complete list of all available keyboard layouts. Find your hungarian keybnoard layout, select it and click on "Add". You can add further layouts that way. You can also add those keyboard layouts to the other languages you have installed. After that you can change between the keyboard layouts in your taskbar.

But be aware that sometimes you might have a keyboard select for an application which you don't expect, so always check on what you are writing to make sure you have the correct one.

... and unless you make the new layout the default one, you have to set the layout again for each application running, and for each application started fresh. For whichever reason, MS decided that keyboard layout changes are application-local.
