DFS issue

Taken over the DFS resposiblities, in theory it is straight forward to configure. How do you fix it without loosing the data when it breaks!!
Have replication from multiple small offices  and HQ, the dfs name space \\mydom.local\acct
folders are
London is the HQ server and have big data .
Restarting the services did not help.
Tried to recreate the dfs database at the London server and did not help.
Here is what i noticed when i troubleshoot the backlog on all servers.
Failed to execute GetOutboundBacklogFileCount method. Err: -2147217406 .
Some people managed to fix the above issue  by recreating the database, it does not help me.
Should I recreate the replication ? my big worries, if they replicate wrong way then I will loose all the data.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Firstly we offer our condolences. I hope your DFS issues, are not as bad as our recent DFS issues, which took us many weeks to resolve, and many hours to replicate the data again 2TB, because it replicates slowly.

How we fixed our issue, is by self-seeding the DFS shares, and re-creating all the hashes, and then start replication again.

we used these reference documents

We have now decided, and will be phasing out the use of DFS.

and Robocopy was our saviour and DPM.
back up the data if you have not done it already at each location.

what dfs-replication errors are you seeing?

create a new dfs replication group using new foldes at each location.
verify it works.

what topology are you looking for is file from site A replicates to site B after replicaing to HQ? or do you have a mesh replication? or site A to HQ , and each site has its own with HQ as the only one that has all the files without intersite sharing.

We have mesh replication, You mentioned a new replication group new folders at each location.
My understanding it is only possible if we do site A to HQ, can that possible in mesh?
Look like users are being directed to nearest location (mydom.local\acct) when they use terminal server . some time to London or York.
DFS can be configured to use local first and then use the nearest based on configuration.
it could also be configured in load balancing mode.

a mesh deals with each location being able to connect to every other location and replicate.
A to HQ would be a HUB and Spoke with HQ being the HUB with all other sites being spokes.

Is the issue between a TS in one location and a DFS share?
