"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Have you tried OnKey (https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/ht077226)

Steps are as follow:
1. Repeatedly press and release the F2 (or F11) key after turning on the computer until the Lenovo Rescue System opens, then select OneKey Recovery.
2. Follow the on-screen instructions to select the backup task you want to restore from and the disk where you want to install the operating system, then press Next to start the restore.
3. Please wait during the process of system recovery. Do not interrupt the operation during the recovery process.
4. After the system is recovered successfully, the software will prompt you to restart the computer. Restart the computer and start the operating system.

The procedure usually changes from PC to PC, OS to OS, and Manufacturer to manufacturer. Normally the exact procedure is listed in the PC's manual, or you can check the instructions online from the manufacturer's site by searching for your particular model of PC.

You can use Rescue and Recovery is the Operating System is Windows 7. You can use the Recovery Options in Action Center to do a recovery in Windows 8. If you have a Blue ThinkPad button, press that at startup to begin the recovery process.

Be sure you have a backup before you start.
