Two-way transitive trust - need to know whats required to turn into a forest-level trust

Hi,

I have a two-way transitive, external trust with another domain, we want to turn that into a forest trust.
What do I need to do, do I create a new forest trust then remove the old two-way trust, do I upgrade the existing two-way trust somehow.
I need to know the method that will pose the least amount of risk to our customers using the trust for enterprise services.
I am new to deal with a forest level trust and need some guidance.
Thanks in advance.

You cannot simply update the external trust to a forest trust. The only thing you can do is remove the current External Trust (domain) and create a new Forest Trust to the other forest.

Thats it

Can I create the Forest trust and then remove the external trust, or should I expect to plan a minimal outage while I'm destroying one and creating the other.  Thanks!!

Personally to avoide any issues, i would remove the current external trust and then create your Forest Trust.
