Great Plains (GP 2013) - PM30200

Can someone explain the difference between the PM00400 table and the PM30200 table?  Both of these have a blank cntrlnum and vchrnumb.  Is this normal?  We keep having problems with the PM00400 table; we have rebuilt it using a script from our GP partner, ran Checklinks, etc.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

The PM00400 table is the 'keys' table. Basically, it has a record for each payables transaction in the system to ensure that transaction numbers are unique. It also holds the status of all the payables transactions for easy reference by other processes.

The PM30200 table holds all the historical (fully applied or voided) payables transactions.

The CNTRLNUM in PM00400 is the VCHRNMBR in PM30200. Neither of these tables should ever have blanks for either of these fields. If this is something that is routinely happening, you likely have some kind of customization causing this. Or some other routine event, like users crashing out of GP while entering transactions, that's causing the problem to keep coming back. Did your partner give you a reason as to why this is happening? If not, it may be worth further investigation either with them or Microsoft support.
