Malware / Adware / Virus Issue - Laptop

I am working on a friend's laptop (Windows 8) that is affected with Malware, Adware and possibly a virus.  McAfee Total Protection is on this laptop.  I did install Malwarebytes and Adwcleaner and ran both of these programs and it did clean up most of the issues, however, I am still having several issues -  1) a box pops up indicating "Validate copy of your WinPC License .... contact 1-800-311-5943 to validate..." and 2) an alert indicating "you are about to be signed out - Error Code 00XB10999 windows might be infected with Trojan virus ..... contact 1-800-311-5943 ... for assistance" -- I have located information on the web about this error and it shows 5 steps for removing this virus - -- My question is since the AswCleaner & Malwarebytes did not remove the issue - I have to download Hitman Pro & Zemana Antimalware -- is it possible to download these apps from another computer then copy to USB or CD and install on the infected laptop?  I have the wireless disabled on the wireless laptop.  Also any other insight you could provide to fix this problem would be appreciated.  Thank you.

Yes.  Also try Safe Mode as well if the virus prevents copying across.

Also try

TDSS Killer  (this should be the first of any malware util to use)

and look at using RKill as well if the normal antivirus utils don't seem to be finding everything.  Read the page carefully to see how it works.

I downloaded all three and was able to run two of the three.  When I tried to run the combofix it gave me a message that "This operating system is not supported - ComboFix only runs on "Windows XP; Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8 -- Windows 2000 is no longer supported.  This is strange because I am running Windows 8??  The tdsskiller did detect several items and I quarantined them.  Once I rebooted, I still receive the same messages I provided earlier.

Also try msconfig at the command line and see what services are running at startup.

Check especially under Startup and use Google to identify any that you don't know <name of service) and disable.  Check under the other Tabs as well.  Also check under Control Panel --> Programs and see what Programs are installed.  Use Google and do a search <"application name" virus> and remove any suspicious.

Unsure why ComboFix thinks you are running Windows 2000.

Kaspersky Rescue disk or
Bitdefender rescue disk

Burn iso to flash or CD
Boot from CD or flash
Update the definitions
scan PC for virus and Malware.

I have used both tools previously with great success.

Thanks for all of your help and info.  Last night I decided to do a "refresh" of Windows 8 and that did remove the "Validate WinPC" message" so for now I am back up and running without any issues.  Thanks again.
