How to add MVC project to existing ASP.NET Web Form that uses ASP.NET Membership

Using Visual Studio 2013 with ASP.NET 4.x, in C#. I have an existing Web Site (not an actual Project right now) that uses the "classic" ASP.NET Membership provider (stored in SQL Server).

For new features though, I want to use MVC.

How do I do so? Need to know the steps in general involved, but especially how to tell MVC to use the existing ASP.NET SQL Server membership tables.

Also, do I need to first convert the ASP.NET Web Site into an actual Project?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

First, I think you should read on setting up membership in the MVC project. You should be able to use the same tables.

The last comment doesn't seem to answer my question about whether a web app needs to be converted into  a proper web project.

Nobody responded to my root question.

Actually, you can use both in a project so you really didn't ask your question correctly. I read the question as you were wondering if you could use the same authentication tables in your MVC project and I answered that.
