You may want to consider the excellent (and free!) Classic Shell:

I not only don't like the Metro interface in W8 and the tiles when clicking on Start in W10, I don't like the W7/Vista interface, so I've been using Classic Shell to give me the good old W2K (truly Classic!) interface on all of my numerous Vista, W7, and W8/8.1 computers (I have only one W10 computer, and Classic Shell supports that, too). Of course, since you prefer the W7 interface, you should configure Classic Shell to give you that.

Here's a 5-minute EE video Micro Tutorial that explains how to download, install, and configure Classic Shell — all of which happens in the 5-minute video, although you may want to spend another 10-15 minutes configuring its large number of options:

You shouldn't. After a vanilla install of Classic Shell, selecting the W7 interface and the classic Start button, but without changing any settings, here's what my W10 Start Menu looks like:

Classic Shell on W10
As you can see, there are no tiles. I don't know why yours would look different, unless you selected different settings during the installation. If so, right-click on the Start button and select Settings, which will display this:

Classic Shell settings on W10
Tick the box that says "Show all settings" in order to see all of the options that are available. Set the options until the UI looks exactly like you want it — you should be able to make it look virtually identical to your W7 system. Regards, Joe
