Do you get an error message?

Have you run the code step by step to see which line causes the lock?
What application is doing before you issue the lock.
Sounds as though your application does not release the lock where conditions to enter data are not met.

Presumably you have selects to build data, start transaction lick table before writing?

Run SQL Profiler to capture the process that are running and then you'll see which query is the blocker.

You may use this query to find blocking query

SELECT * FROM sys.dm_exec_requests where DB_NAME(database_id)='YourDBName' and blocking_session_id <>0
