Configuring fingerprint reader correctly?

Trying to get to the bottom of configuring this correctly.  Recently had issues whereby my account was being locked, possibly caused by an open session to a server..  Not so sure,.

If i set this up and change the password will the finger print PW still work or change/update accordingly?  Laptop is a Lenovo w540.

It depends on your fingerprint software.  But, generally yes.. the fingerprint "codes" are tied to your account, and the software pulls out your credentials from your account based on your fingerprint code.   So, your password change is not tied to your fingerprint necessarily.

A lot of laptops use OEM versions of Digital Persona, and it definitely does not matter if you change your password.
