Outlok AutoArchive - Does the Auto Archive setting work on PST files associated to the mailbox

Outlook archive will achive the mailbox and all sub folders using the global archive setting, I am trying to understand if the Global setting apply to the PST files, or will end users have to setup archive setting for each folder in a PST file they use to store emails?

The Global Setting will archive mail items in the entire mailbox to the PST file that you specify. You can then go a step further and configure individual folders to be archived to a different PST file. The more restrictive rule takes precidence.

So by default the global setting will archive ALL folders unless otherwise specifically specified.

I though so as well, but it seems that the PST files that are stored on a network drive are not following the global archive settings?

PST files should not be stored/accessed from the network, this can cause performance and corrupt issues. However you need to look at the path in the global settings and that is the PST file that will be used when archiving data unless you specifically set archiving on the folder directly to a different PST file.
