Binding a domain name to a web applicaiton

Hi, my application is C#, asp.net web form in VS 2013.  IIS is 7 on the web server, windows server.

I'm just a programmer but learning about setting this up so expect the following will contain some dumb questions.  I'm requesting a internal sub domain for a new web application I'm about to deployed to the web server in production.  Do I need to supply the server ip in my request so the system engineer can assign the domain to that ip?
Can a windows server's IIS configure to host different web application with different domain name?   Or do I need a separate web server just to host this web application?

Thank you.

yes they will need the name and the ip to add to dns
create a new website and in the bindings put in the domain name

right click on sites, add website, select the app pool.. normally the application name, the physical path and the host name (domain name)
