Debian Webserver - best RAID 1 solution?

I am setting up a webserver (Apache, MySQL, PHP) under Debian.

What is the best solution to have RAID 1 for the server?

a) Hardware Raid (what are suggested controllers for debian)?

b) Software Raid (what solution works also for the boot disk)?

Basically I want to be on the safe side when 1 HD fails.

Once you have decided which option would you go for you can look up ADAPTEC , LSI , DELL or HP for hardware raid controllers , compatible with linux
For RAID 1 Software RAID is very good. So unless your server doesn't already include a built in, real hardware RAID controller, I'd use Linux's Software RAID.

During the installation of the OS you should be able to setup Software RAID directly, also for the partitions you boot from.

I would rent a virtual private server on linode, digitalocean or another one.

They will cost less if you calculate power consumption and bandwitch.
