I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Could you explain, what you mean by network drive version of a Host ?

do you mean the versions of network driver VIBS on the host, e.g. tg3 driver version ?

this script in this article will list all the vibs by vendor

That script should show you the vendor vibs, and version of network drivers, e.g. tg3, e1000 etc

But any other way to identify the present version as we are not allowed to run the VIB in our environment

Scenario :

We are going to update the driver with latest version so to cross verify whether it is updated or not we need to know the current version of the driver
Andrew Hancock (VMware vExpert / EE MVE^2)VMware and Virtualization ConsultantCommented:
the vib is the driver, inspecting the vib version will give you the driver version.

you can check the versions also using the vSphere Client.

I'm not sure how you can are going to update ESXi, without installing/updating the vib on the host.

We are talking about VMware vSphere (ESXi) ?

@ Andrew

comments we use :  esxcli network nic get -n vmnic0

to update the driver we gave :

esxcli software vib install -v Location of the image

Yes, that's not a script.....it's a command.

Question!

Is there any script to find the network Drive Version of a HOST ?

You also say...

But any other way to identify the present version as we are not allowed to run the VIB in our environment

and the command you use to update, updates the VIB, hence the command VIB!
