What tools out there can we use to create a fast website

We are looking for a tool that we can use to create a simple site, not too complex, but somewhat not-time-consuming; that would display areas such as About, Product, Contact, etc.

Please advice.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Ok, some questions:

Wordpress, wix, square space and drupal are they easy to use and fast-learning?

Are they free?

If we use any of them, do we have to use their location or can we use their tool and have the developed web-site in another hosting area?

Please advice.

I know Wordpress and Drupal are free. Wordpress is easier to use than Drupal (more complex).

WP and Drupal can be hosted anywhere you want (providing the requirements are there, PHP, etc) and can also be hosted in the cloud.

Have a look at DreamHost, they have a service called DreamPress which is supposedly LIGHTING fast.

WIX I know there is a fee and you can't have your site like you can with WordPress and Drupal.

Depends on you.  Drupal is complicated and I don't think anyone will argue that but the other tools mentioned are more visually-oriented and should be easier to use.  Even so, I see people struggle all the time with basic stuff, so your mileage may vary.

Are they free?

WordPress and Drupal are free to download and use but you need hosting.  WordPress also has wordpress.com which is free to host a site on but limited in functionality.

Wix, SquareSpace etc. are not free.
