I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

The first thing to do is remove the battery and plug it in then put the batter back in and see if it is just a battery seating issue.

When your computer starts up you need to download and install Malware Bytes and Hitman pro to see if you are able to find anything that isn't supposed to be there.  Also set the system to auto check the hard drive for consistency issues.

install Malware Bytes and Hitman pro
waht are right urls for above.

are they safe and open source?

please advise
Thomas Zucker-ScharffSolution GuideCommented:
Can you start in safe mode? You need to get rid of all the popups. This is a case where running malware bytes in safe mode is okay (normally this ia not advised)

32 or 64 bit system?

Active Protection takes the fight to cryptojacking

While there were several headline-grabbing ransomware attacks during in 2017, another big threat started appearing at the same time that didn’t get the same coverage – illicit cryptomining.

Trent SmithCommented:
Yes they are both safe and free for private use.  If the computer is on a domain then Hitman pro won't work.

Hitman Pro:

I strongly suggest not running it in safe mode.  Run it in standard operating system.
Thomas Zucker-ScharffSolution GuideCommented:
I would suggest that too,  but it doesn't sound like the OP can start the machine.

They did say once it starts that it shows that the firewall isn't connected.  Gudii9 turn off your wireless and disconnect the computer from everything before you boot it up.  This will keep from allowing the system to infect other devices.  Download the files on another computer and use a thumb drive to install them on the infected computer.
Change the CMOS battery of the laptop, that is the first problem you have. The CMOS batteries of many laptops are hard to reach, often you need to completely open the case in order to get to it. Search online for your Laptop model to get  instructions on how to replace it's CMOS battery, or take it to a PC shop where they can do that.

Test your HD using the HD manufacturer's diagnostic utility. If chkdsk runs all the time most likely the disk itself is bad, and not just the file-system on it. If the diagnostic tool finds problems, replace the disk, then restore your OS from the recovery DVD's you made when you got the PC, or from your backups. Most of the disk manufacturer's diagnostic tools are included on the UBCD:

The UBCD also includes memtest86+ which you can use to test the RAM.

If your manufacturer's diagnostic isn't included on the UBCD, check online at the manufacturer's site whether they have such a tool. If they only have a Windows tool, you will need to install that on another PC and connect your laptop's disk to a spare internal port on that PC in order to scan it. Don't use any USB device to attach the disk.
you can also measure if it is still holdding 3V at least
the type is most often a CR2032 - cheap to replace - can be less than 1$
but as said - on many laptops it is difficult to reach - what model have you ?

test also with ALL external devices disconnected : disks, printers etc..

and yes next thing is testing disk drive with the manufacturer's diagnostic -  as Rindi said
many errors can also be corrected by running HDDRegenerator - not free -

that means your disk has problems; i recommend to run a diag on it - to know it's status; i use UBCD for this :
Hardware diagnostic CD    UBCD

go to the download page, scroll down to the mirror section, and  click on a mirror to start the download
Download the UBCD and make the cd   <<==on a WORKING PC, and boot the problem PC from it
Here 2 links, one to the general site, and a direct link to the download

since the downloaded file is an ISO file, eg ubcd527.iso - so you need to use an ISO burning tool
if you don't have that software, install cdburnerXP :

If you want also the Ram tested - run memtest86+ at least 1 full pass,  - you should have NO errors!
For disk Diagnostics run the disk diag for your disk brand (eg seagate diag for seagate drive)  from the HDD section -  long or advanced diag !  (runs at least for30 minutes)                        ultimate boot cd             download page

**  you can make a bootable cd - or bootable usb stick

for completeness -here's how i handle disk problems :
