Add a Crystal Reports Viewer control?  Can you then add reports?

Sounds like you are adding them as part of the application rather than using the report files separately and just adding the viewer.

We did that and ran into an issue at around 60 reports but then the application had a lot of other forms and controls.  We found partially but the final solution was to rewrite the reporting part of the application to use the RDC and the viewer.  We had to install the reports separately from the application but that had the benefit that if a report changed we didn't have to recompile the program.

I may have that VB6 upgrade but I suspect you will just delay the inevitable.

What code are you using to call the reports?

dear mimcc

This is part of application.

Crystal Reports Viewer control is already added.

I am adding in Designers by add - Crystal reports 8.5  - add already tested crystal report (.rpt) file will be added and save as .dsr file.

Thanks

It is the dsrs that are causing the issue.  There is a limit to the number of controls and files in a VB6 application.  I don't know what it is.

We got around the issue by using another method for calling reports.  Instead of bringing the reports into the application we used the rpt files directly from the viewer.  It takes a different set of code to do that but it works quite well.  If done properly you can use a single viewer form for all the reports.

while adding report, it is CRAXDDRT.DLL which is giving problem. it does not allow me to add report (.dsr) to system.

You don't want to use CRAXDDRT.  Use CRAXDRT.  CRAXDDRT can require runtime licenses for the end users.

You don't use dsrs with CRAXDRT.  You use the rpt files..  I'll try to find my source code.

Here is code that should work

Option Explicit
     Private crApp As CRAXDRT.Application
     Private crRpt As CRAXDRT.Report
 '
 '   Open report
 '
     Set crApp = New CRAXDRT.Application

     Set crRpt = crApp.OpenReport("C:\Reports\Crystal\MyReport.rpt", 1)
 '
 '   Set flags for CRViewer
 '
     crRpt.MorePrintEngineErrorMessages = False
     crRpt.EnableParameterPrompting = False
     crRpt.DiscardSavedData

 '
 ' Set the viewer's report source to the Report object
 '
     Me.rptCRViewer.ReportSource = crRpt
     Me.rptCRViewer.ViewReport
     Me.Show

Open in new window
