start up

I don't see anyway in your "answers" to my question to start up the MAC GS 5 10.4.11 I am TALKING ABOUT.
NOT ONLY WILL IT NOT GO BEYOND THE FLASHING LIGHT, (LOOKS LIKE THE PLANET EARTH)  there isn't any thing else that appears including a cursor? There isn't anyway to point and click anything.
I have a newer Mac but all my important files and things are on my old one.
Was wondering if perhaps there is someway to use this computer to fire up the pld one and repair it?

If your newer Mac has Firewire port, you can connect the two computers by a firewire cable and use Firewire Target Disk Mode to read data from the old computer to the new.

If your new Mac is so new that it does not have a firewire port, you need to get Firewire to Thunderbolt adapter: http://www.apple.com/ca/shop/product/MD464LL/A/apple-thunderbolt-to-firewire-adapterand firewire cable. Use the adapter and cable to connect the firewire port on the G5 to the Thunderbolt port on the new computer.

Boot G5 while holding down the T key. It will boot into Target Disk Mode and a Firewire symbol should appear on the monitor. When that happens, the G5's drive should appear as a remote volume in Finder on your newer Mac.

If it doesn't, on the new Mac, in Finder, pull down the Finder menu to Preference, and in the General tab, make sure you have all the boxes checked. Also in the Sidebar tab, make sure you have "external disks" checked.
