VMWare View OU management?

EE, thnx for reading

I was cramming through the View Architect Ref guide and see they recommend putting vDesktops in a special OU and enabling loopback processing. I'm confused as to why they can't just all reside in the existing multi hundred OU structure already in place where each OU has it's own granular set of policies specific to that department.

Can someone clarify how or if the existing infrastructure is suppose to be remodeled for View?

Thanks again

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

It's a recommendation, we believe for organisations, which don't use their AD correctly!

You are correct they could be anywhere, with the same policy applied, however in View Administration and Configuration, there is a setting you specify for where the View VDI desktops will sit in AD. (one single location!).

The new OU is for ease to manage the View desktops because VMware View ships with a number of group policy templates (ADM) that allow you to contorl and optimize view components.

Hope this helps.
