SharePoint Site Add Column to Subfolder Only

How can I add a column to a subfolder only? When I try to, it seems all other folders and views also have that column. I do not have designer.


When you add a column to a folder, you're adding it to all folders.

What is the folder hierarchy like? How many folders, how many levels deep?

Have you ever heard of Document Sets? They are a kind of folder which may meet your needs, though it depends what your current structure is.

What version of SharePoint are you using?

Everything is in one library with many folders. The folder I want to add  it to is 4 layers deep.

I should also add by the way that applying a content type to any library adds a copy of those columns to the library itself. No way around that.

For some reason, I do not see site collection features when I go to the Site Settings.

What are your current permissions? Site Collection Admin would be ideal...

I am not sure my permissions. It is a corporate site and I am an owner. I don't think I will be able to have access. Thank you though for your time.
