Have to exit and enter again iPhone's safari web browser to finish loading a web page

Our iPhone's safari web browser seems to halt loading even the simplest page.  Everytime this happens, we have to exit the Safari, delete from memory (triple-HOME and swipe up) and open it again so it can load the page (and this happens everyday).

How can we solve this problem?

Note: we have the latest ISO9 but this problem is happening since previous IOS versions.

Try to clear history and data: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201265 (please note there are TWO steps)
You will lose EVERYTHING concerning Safari (saved passwords etc), but I fear it's the only way to get you browsing without problems again.

FYI:

It happened again yesterday; doing a simple Google search it just stood there seem like loading for ever... had to exit the safari application and opened it again.

What else can be causing this problem?

If it's not too much trouble, can you temporarily make Chrome your default browser? (Of course, install it through the App Store first). And then test for a few days.
That way we can know for sure if it's a system wide thingy or just Safari

Good idea, will do.

Ok installed it, but how do we make it our default browser?
0
KimputerCommented:
Sorry, I didn't mean it like you are used to on a computer. Just use Chrome as much as possible by having it on the home screen or in the lower app drawer. Default browser options are only in select apps (like Flipboard).

Understood.

So now I have chrome, what next?

KimputerCommented:
Keep using Chrome as much as possible, see if problem is also there.

i see.

By any change, CAN we make Chrome our default browser in iPhone?
(we are asking this since when we click the EE email it takses always to Safari and wanted to see if we can make it to take us to Chrome)

Please advice

KimputerCommented:
No, Apple made sure it's NOT possible. Only after jailbreaking will you get to change the default browser (voiding your warranty!).
If it happens, you have to copy & paste the URL from Safari to Chrome.

Ok thanx.  It's going to be tedious but we will go thru your recommendation on order to identify if the problem is Safri or the system.

Will let u guys know as soon as it happens.

Are you connected to wifi or cellular data when this problem happens?  Does this problem happen in both scenarios when trying to load a web page?
0
rayluvsAuthor Commented:
Yes we have had the iPhone in Wifi in various sites and also tried our cell data.

Try this: Go to
Settings
General
Restrictions
Enable restrictions
Safari > Toggle Off
Restart iPhone
Settings
General
Restrictions
Safari > Toggle On
Go to Safari and try loading a web page.

Does the same problem happen?

Kyle SantosCustomer RelationsCommented:
If that ^^^ does not work try this: Go to
Settings
iCloud
Toggle Off Safari. (Warning: "What would you like to do with the previously synced iCloud Safari data on your iPhone?")
Delete from My iPhone
Open Safari and load a web page.

Does the same problem happen?

Hi,

The steps recommended seem to improve but still, but fewer cases, we have to exit safari and enter to compete loading a page.  We are try identifying of its a specific type of page but it's a random issue.

Anything else u guys think we can look into?

Kyle SantosCustomer RelationsCommented:
What iPhone do you have?
What ever came of trying Google Chrome browser app?
Does this issue happen on Safari and/or Chrome with one website or will this happen with other websites like msn.com, cnn.com, yahoo.com too?
Sometimes if a website requires Flash there could be a problem with compatibility between the site and browser.  But from all the trouble shooting we have done I am really thinking its Safari that's messed up and may require a complete restoration of the phone to see if the problem goes away.  If that is not acceptable then you may just have to disable Safari, refrain from using it and just use Chrome browser.

iPhone 6+

You are correct, u recommended for us to use Chrome; sorry, simple forgot, but will return to chrome.

The problem happens random.  One day a site opens up and another the same site halts and have to nexit.

I also think its safari because this happened after the IOS9 update.

Ok, we will return to Chrome (will try to remember)

Thanx!

Chrome is a great alternative.
Kimputer suggested to use Chrome as an alternative ;)

It may be iOS9; that is my final guess.  I have iOS9 and have been using Safari on my 6+ but haven't had the problem you are experiencing.  iOS9 has released a couple updates in the past week or so.  Did you update to those yet?  Latest is 9.0.2

Otherwise, if you're adamant about getting Safari to work you could backup your iPhone in iTunes, restore the phone to factory, then restore your backup onto the phone again.  Its a bit of work to do, but doable. :)

rayluvsAuthor Commented:
Yes, we have the latest version.

We didn't want to do a backup/reset/restore but guess must do.   First will try Chrome couple of days to see.

We just finished doing a trial run and definitely there is a problem with Safari.  Yesterday we stop using chrome and this morning started using Safari and it just happen again.

We think that the next step should b back up reset and restore.

Please advice on what stores to take.

How to backup iOS device.

With a cable:
Connect your iPhone or iPad to your computer and launch iTunes.
Make sure iCloud is turned off on your iPhone or iPad. You can't create backups using iTunes when iCloud is enabled. ...
In iTunes, right-click (or Ctrl-click) on your device, which appears in the leftmost pane under Devices.
Choose Back Up.
When backup is complete choose Restore (do not restore from your backup you just made).

(Basically, this restores the phone to factory settings.  But if Activation Lock was enabled the iCloud account will not be erased.)

How to Restore iPhone, iPad Using iTunes

Launch iTunes.
Connect your iOS device to your computer.
In iTunes, right-click (or Ctrl-click) on your device, which appears in the leftmost pane under Devices.
Select the Summary tab and then Restore (or just Restore from Back Up if you see it).
Your iPad or iPhone will say "Restore in Progress" on the screen, and iTunes will show a progress bar. Then your iOS device will restart. Wait for the progress bar to finish and for the restart to complete before you try to use or disconnect the device.

After that then run your test on the Safari browser.

Hi,

Our process of backup, reset & restore is about the same as your recommendation with the difference that we were not considering to turn off iCloud on our iPhone; so we will include it.

However, when you say "When backup is complete choose Restore (do not restore from your backup you just made)", you mean restore from a  previous backup of the one done now OR you mean restore a another type factory settings?

Kind of confuse; when you say "Select the Summary tab and then Restore (or just Restore from Back Up if you see it)", is it same as above, restore from a  previous backup of the one done now?

Sorry for confusion.  I meant restore to original settings.  If you restore without the backup Apple will update the phone to the latest iOS.  (It would be like reformatting a hard drive with a fresh installation of Windows.)

After restoring, test the Safari browser.  If there are no issues then plug phone into iTunes and restore from your backup.  Retest Safari browser.  Hopefully whatever corrupted Safari for you in the beginning is fixed now.

Let me know if you need anything else.

That sound logical, yes.  Will restore to detail and test Safari.
