Windows Deployment

Hi Guys

When i worked for a large IT company we had laptops given to us and when we first logged on there was a program run to setup the laptop and install programs, it was a windows / Microsoft tool but i cant remember what it was called

Can you help or give me some suggestions of what it might be.

Thanks

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

GPO can install applications.
SCCM does it much better.

Its Microsoft, i remember googling it at the time and it was part of the Deployment software, It ran as a program and not a GPO

How many years ago? ;)

Microsoft had a tool called BDD - Business Desktop Depolyment. I think it was able to deploy applications. BDD is discontinued. You have MDT - Microsoft Deployment Toolkit, now.

Other tools are mainly used for image deployment. WAIK - Windows Automated Installation Kit is now Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit --> WADK.

WDS - Windows Deployment Services is part of all mentioned solutions.

I usually do not complain, but how is my answer (SCCM) different from David's answer (SCCM)? ;)
