Import Outlook contact into GAL

We would like to import a large list of company contacts that has been created in Outlook into GAL so that cell phone only users can view and access these contacts in their email client on the phones.

How do we go about doing this?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You need to create Contact in Exchange for each address. Then it will be visible in GAL. You cannot import directly.

I have no personal experience with this, but found this:

You can do this by putting your Contacts information into a CSV file and then running this command

 Import-Csv "C:\Contacts.csv" | ForEach-Object { New-MailContact -Name $_.Name -ExternalEmailAddress $_.Email-Address -FirstName $_.FirstName -LastName $_.LastName  -OrganizationalUnit "ADDomain.local\OU" -Alias $_.Name }

Change the OU where you want to put your contacts.

Your CSV file will contain contacts attributes like this
