Cannot find cx_Oracle Version

I just went to this site http://cx-oracle.sourceforge.net/ to download cx_Oracle.  I have the 11g Express running on Windows 7.  My Python is on OS X 10.10.
It says  ....  "Install by issuing the command pip install cx_Oracle"
I get "Could not find a version that satisfies the requirement cx-Oracle (from version:)
No matching distribution found for cx-Oracle.
Since this is a python extension, i'm assuming it is installed on the machine with python.

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Yes, it's a python extension, during installation it is trying to locate an Oracle installation.

For the installation to work, you need an Oracle client installed on  your OS X 10.10 machine.

You can get the OS-X client at the Oracle site, install it and then retry cx_Oracle installation.

I did need to get the basic part, but even then there is a 'fatal error: "oci.h" file not found' message then a 'command "cc" failed with exit status 1.

It sounds like the product needs more than what is included with the Instant Client Basic.

Maybe the SDK?

Instant Client Package - SDK: Additional header files and an example makefile for developing Oracle applications with Instant Client
