Dell Powerconnect 6248 Switch
I have a pair of these switches and every so often specially in the event of a non expected power failure, if the switches go offline when they come back up I have workstation and servers whose Nic cards dont recognize the network.
If I power off the computer/server and pull the network cable off , replace cable and power up the PC/Server then the NIC card seems to connect to the switch and the network is found.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to solve this problem. I would much rather see the NIC never loose connectivity or reestablish connectivity. Is almost like the NIC has to re register itself with the switch.

A pretty simple workaround would be a UPS. I would usually have core switches on one routinely.

Thanks for input. Ups is a great solution. Thanks, but was wondering if there is a way to reset the switches when power does in fact stops.
These switches seam to somehow keep track of the Nic cards. Or at least I feel that is what's happening and some sort of table with the Nic card information needs to rebuild internally.
