Exchange 2013 and 2012 R2 AD - How to search individual mailboxes from the ECP

I have a need to search for specific content inside user(s) mailbox from the admin console for exchange 2013.  I need to be able to locate specific emails and be able to delete them without logging on as that user.

It seems ECP has been dumbed down a bit and more advanced features are done from the shell.  Is there a way, and specifically a tutorial, explaining how to search mailboxes and delete content?

We've had a data spill of sensitive data and I need to be able to remove the emails from the admin console.

Thanks,

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

This is also a pretty good guide
The powershell cli is the way to do this if you don't have ediscovery setup

In the end I only had to search a handful of accounts so it was easy to do from client side, but the 2 comments above would be a good solution.  We don't have enterprise version of exchange so ediscovery isn't available to me.
