Network Issues

So I have a weird problem I have an existing network that is functioning fine. I just bought a new phone system and we are trying to network it for Voicemail to email feature. I am trying to assign the IP address to the phone system. When I ping the IP address (without the phone system attached) from the server or run an ip scanner .40 is coming up with no device, so I know it’s not in use. When I plug the phone system into the network I can pin the .40 and get two replies then it says “Destination Host unreachable”. I have created a mini network with just the phone system and my laptop and I can ping the .40 and get replies all day but as soon as I plug into the existing network, again two replies then failures.  I have removed my firewall from the network to full that out, I have also logged into my managed switch and changed the port from 1 gb to 100mbps and still no change. Any idea’s?

This behavior can occur when you have a duplicate IP-address.
Could you please try to change the to another free IP-address.

I did change the ip to another and still had the same issue. I have isolated the issue to a managed switch. I found a work around and seem to be working. I will need to go through the switch or call the vendor to find what was blocking the traffic.
Thanks for this info and very good that you found that it was caused by a switch. Good luck with resolving the switch problem.
