I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

It states in the prerequisites

" XenApp 7.6 is supported on popular hypervisors such as Citrix XenServer® 6.2, Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2012 R2, and VMware vSphere 5.5. "

No mention of 5.1.

It still seems a bit vague to me like they are listed examples. I wish they had a clear cut compatibility matrix like VMware does

Did you click download at the top of the page that I linked where it will download a PDF of the compatibility matrix? That tells you exactly what is supported. Here's a picture of it. XD Matrix image

does that not state XenDesktop ? not XenApp, and also in the same document it states Hypervisor is agnostic for XenApp.
Casey WeaverManaged Services Windows Engineer IIICommented:
XenApp and XenDesktop are technically the same product with different licensing. You have to follow the provisioning rules with xenapp. Also, it says agnostic for 6.0/6.5. 7.x isn't even on the same planet as the previous XA/XD softwares. A quick look of the Xenapp bugfixes and patch page will confirm that XA very much depends on its hypervisor for features. Same as you can't run Server 2012R2 on ESX 4.1, there are reasons you can't run 7.x+ XA on older hypervisors.

I am looking for a clear cut document that stats this which I am present to my management
Andrew Hancock (VMware vExpert / EE MVE^2)VMware and Virtualization ConsultantCommented:
Well the evaluation guide does not mention 5.1! but then it only mentions Window 2012 R2!

maybe the evaluation guide was written, with what was current at the time of writing.

A statement from Citrix Support should be good enough for management!
