Google provides several search filters and operators, including video length and quality, but unfortunately I can't see anything for word count.

Perhaps this is because returned pages are laid out in many different ways. A long article or a book could be set out to display one page at a time with a link to the next page at the bottom. It would be hard to differentiate between that and a magazine with many unrelated short articles with links at the bottom.

Perhaps you could refine your searches using the minus (-) operator with a phrase that appears in the short repeated articles that you want to avoid.
-" not this one" would ignore any page with that phrase. You can also exclude Web sites or groups of websites.

I am looking for word count and you say this can not be done.
Are you sure?

Google certainly can't do it as it's dependant on how the page is indexed in their database. That information isn't public knowledge so searching for a word count isn't possible.

Are you sure that there is no search engine that knows wordcount.
I can copy paste words into textbox and results are wordcount

https://www.google.com/search?q=wordcount

and if search engine results are cached
then
it should be easy to allow wordcount

The search engine can't do it.

You could write a script yourself that takes the results from a search, loading each individual page, counting the words before being able to sort your list.

But unless you did every page in the search results, it's not gong to be accurate. A result that appears on page 4 may have a higher word count than one on page 1.
