Advice for NPS & CA migration to 2012 R2

Hi All,
I am looking for some advice to how I should proceed with a migration of NPS and a CA server from 2008 to 2012 R2 with low impact to end users.

Looking to find the easiest option with minimal, but expected downtime.  New to the environment, so still getting things lined up.

CA templates are:  Domain Controller Authentication, Domain Controller, CA Exchange, Directory Email Replication, Computer, Basic EFS
NPS does AD Authentication for our Cisco Infrastructure and Internal WiFi network.

 - Keep old server name (server A) or new server name (server B).  I think I know it is easiest to keep the old name, but keeping an open mind.

 - Migrate them to a member server vs. AD Controller?

Any guides or step-by-step procedures would be helpful.

Thanks for your help in advance!

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

are the roles collocated?
generally recommend separating these. Collocated NPS with AD controller and possibly 2-tier certificate server with offline root.

But back to your Q;
- What kind of certificates have you enrolled?
- What are they used for? Purely authentication to 802.1X wireless/wired or used for encryption/SMIME aswell

if used for authentication purely, I'd do this:
NPS: Export network policy and import it to new server (or AD Controller)

CA: follow these procedures: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee126170%28v=ws.10%29.aspx

Or possibly - create a new PKI server, enroll new root certs and new client certs and decomission old CA ...
