"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Have you got Samba running on the Ubuntu Server?

You need to configure smb.conf in /etc/samba.

It has been a very long while since I have done this (NT Workstation and RedHat desktop), however.

If you want to access shares on the ubuntu machine then you need an SMB client/server installed which allows you to share folders. Use a Package Manager or Apt-Get to install it.
