Hyper-V 2012 R2 server core

Hello Experts,

I want to have some sort of minimum Gui on this server that I installed. I inserted the boot usb I used to install the server and I exited from the Sconfig.cmd to the command prompt. I went to the PowerShell and enter the command Install-WindowsFeature Server-Gui-Mgmt-Infra.

but I keep getting a message with red text that the feature is not present. Please help

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

There is no GUI available for the free hyper-V server download?
Lee W, MVPTechnology and Business Process AdvisorCommented:
As cliff said, Hyper-V Server 2012 is a free product that has no GUI.  PERIOD.

You manage it by connecting remotely from other Windows 2012 servers or Windows 8/8.1 workstations running the Hyper-V Manager.

You CAN download a third party product - VT Utilities is a commercial product that offers a 7 day trial.  5Nine manager is a free product for a limited number of VMs.  You can try both of those.  But if you want to use MS stuff and/or don't want to pay for third party, you need to buy Windows Server or manage remotely.

To manage it remotely. Does the client workstation processor matter.I had issues running hyperV manager from a server 2012 and when I added the role it told me my processor does not have the feature to support vittualization even though I just want to manage it remotely.
Lee W, MVPTechnology and Business Process AdvisorCommented:
Management of 2012 can be done from any Windows 8/8.1 machine. You don't install Hyper-V on it - you install the Hyper-V management tools.

In my experience, getting access for remote management on the free server can be extremely challenging if you can't join it to a domain.  IF you join it to a domain it becomes a lot easier.  Non-domain joined systems.
