Migration of MS/SQL server

We have an (old) server on which runs MS/SQL 2005 standard edition.
We have just acquired a new machine running Windows 2012 release 2
As there are many many version of SQL (the one we have is said to be not compatible/supported on W 2012R2), I wonder which is the best newer version of MS/SQL to install with an easy way to migrated the current databases we have

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You should opt for SQL 2012.
Since SQL2008R2 has some issues with clustering on Windows 2012.

There is some important article on this from Microsoft.

Since you're upgrading SQL anyway, I'd go with SQL 2014, the latest version.  I see no reason to start out a version behind, esp. as you'll almost certainly have to licence 2014 anyway.
