I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Actually not. There are sometimes the cases where Symantec Volume Shadow Copy provider overtakes the Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy. But this is a rare case.
Make sure they are not running at the same time (backup with Windows Server Backup and Symantec).

Thanks Noxcho, basically I want to add Windows Backup so I can perform a manual Bare metal and Full Windows Backup of my Windows Server 2008 that is also my Symantec Backup Exec server for DR purposes. Bill

It should not cause any prblem. Btw, doesn't do BESR provide bare metal recovery feature?

Yes, BESR does, however, this is my BE server machine. I would have to restore the server before I could restore from tape.
