Synchronizing Server’s time across a VMware infrastructure.

Dear VMware experts,

My infrastructure consists of 2 ESXi Servers and 1 Physical DC Server.

Could you please advise which is the best method in order to have
all the machines ,physical and virtual, synced from one time pool?

Should I use the DC to sync the ESXi’s and force VMs to retrieve the
time from the ESXis?

Should I use an external time source?

Please advise the recommended source time server as well as the configuration required
in order to have all the machines synced.

Thanks,
Mamelas

Hi there Andrew,

Regarding Q3, do I need to run  NET TIME \\<DOMAIN CONTROLLER> /SET /Y
on every VM Server in order to force to sync with the DC or it the default domain
policy will sync those VMs?

Using the above command will make the sync connection permanent between VM Server and DC?

Following your suggestion:

1) I synced the Primary Domain controller and the ESXi Servers with the same external ntp pools.
2) I confirmed that the "VM sync with Host" option was disabled for every VM
3) I run the "NET TIME \\<DOMAIN CONTROLLER> /SET /Y" command on every VM

this command will make the sync connection permanent between Primary Domain Controller and VMs?
