PowerPoint 2010 – some controls on this presentation can’t be activated.  They might not be registered on this computer.

Hello Experts,

Here’s the scenario: I’m embedding a flash video (.swf) file into a slide.  I can do it using the Shockwave Flash Object control in PowerPoint. The problem occurs after I save the PowerPoint file (.pptx).  When I try to open it again I get a message stating that PowerPoint found a problem and needs to repair the presentation.  If I click on repair I get the message: some controls on this presentation can’t be activated.  They might not be registered on this computer.

When I then open the slideshow the video does not load.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is a presentation that needs to go to a client asap.  Thanks!

The latest version of Flash (19) causes this. You should roll back to version 18 and prevent updates till it is fixed.

Unfortunately this is not made easy by Adobe. Google for old versions of Flash or something similar.
or https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html
Not sure if the client needs 18 too.
