How can I use a function with WHERE clause in SQL statement?  The Function is going to return a Boolean value True or False.  Please see below for details.  Thank you very much in advance.

pls post the scripts of Function FunDepartment ?

I guess you may mean this instead?

SELECT FIRST_NAME, LAST_NAME FROM EmployeeMaster WHERE FunDepartment(EMPLOYEE_ID, 'Finance') = 1 ' or 0

Open in new window

which interpret as to get the First Name and Last Name of an employee based on his/her Employee ID and determine whether currently he/she is in/not in the Finance department.

Hence, we probably need to modify the Function FunDepartment accordingly

Just a cautionary note on using functions in the where clause;
doing this can make queries very slow and/or add significant loads on CPU.

It may make your SQL query code neat and tidy, but you can pay dearly for that. Be wary.
