Locking down iPad

Hi Guys,

We have a few ipads that we are thinking about deploying for work access. They would need access to just one website (health facility) and nothing else. I'd like to be able to lock everything else down, while also be able to login remotely to be able to troubleshoot.

Let me know what suggestions you have.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

you can visit: https://www.apple.com/in/support/osxserver/profilemanager/

with this you can enroll all iPad and run restriction on and wireless manage  the device.

another solution is there are many MDM servers available.

These are all remote sites. Isnt there a kiosk app or something i can use?
OS X Server is a purchase for $19.99 from the Apple App Store to install on a Mac of your choice.  You use profile manager to manage your ipads and lock them down.

You can look up the information about MDM here: https://www.apple.com/iphone/business/it/

You can still get the free Apple Configurator from the App store.  It might still work well for you.

There used to be an iPhone configuration Utility for windows too.  http://www.classthink.com/2013/11/19/managing-ipads-windows-iphone-configuration-utility/

You don't need MDM or OSX Server or Configurator to achieve what you want. .. although if you're managing several iPads it can be beneficial.

You can enable Kiosk Mode on iOS to lock it to use Safari web browser alone.
To restrict the Safari to access just one website you can use the "Restrictions" feature in the Settings to limit Safari tojust one URL

There is NO remote control app for iOS so you cannot remote login to control or troubleshoot the iPad.  Due yo sandboxing remote control and screen viewing is not possible in iOS without jailbreaking the device.
