Coexisting Exchange environment

We're doing our dual swing migration from Exchange 2003 to 2013. The (intermediate/temporary) Exchange 2010 box was set up and had all the mailboxes and public folders (which we do not even use) migrated to it last weekend (we only have 25 mailboxes), and everything seems fine. How long do I need to keep the Exchange 2003 box alive? I'd like to decommission it, so that we can start on the Exchange 2013 prep, so we can get this project completed. Thanks for any information!

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You can remove it immediately and install 2013 and perform rest of the migration. As with 2003 you cannot install 2013.

Normally we use the the below process as standard-

Migrate from Old Environment to New
Validate all functionality in New Environment working fine.
Shut down and disable the Old Environment for Two weeks
Re-Validate all functionality in New Environment working fine.
If it all working good, decommission the Old Environment.

hope this helps.
