Add disk space to datastore

Hello,

I am using a vSphere 5.0 and need to add disk space to an existing datastore.  When I right-click on the server containing the datastore and select Edit Settings - > Hardware, and navigate to the hard disk, the options on the right are grayed out.  Do I need to put the datastore in SDRS maintenance mode first.  If not, why would the options be grayed out?

Thanks.

Are you adding space to datastore or virtual machine?

Usually you would select the properties of a datastore and select Increase and follow the wizard?

Bigger issue was with scheduled snapshots not being deleted.

So you are adding space, to a virtual disk, not a datatore!

Yes, to be expected if you have a snapshot, you cannot extend the virtual disk!
