combining 3 columns into one

i have 3 columns.  columns 1 - 3 will all have 1 value per row.  the value can be in any column but, the other
two columns will always be blank.

a        
            b
                     c
             d
b
            a

desired result below
col4
a
b
c
d
b
a

can anyone do a formula in excel for this?

Or if the cells have a potential for spaces:

= TRIM(A1) & TRIM(B1) & TRIM(C1)
