Moving Exchange certificates from one server to another in an Exchange 2010 Organization

We have two (2) 2010 Exchange servers in our organization.  One of them will be going away soon as we have migrated all the mailboxes from one to another and made changes to redirect setting to the new server.  We will call the old server Cats and the new Server Dogs for the purpose of this question.

In the EMC under Server Configuration you can see the Exchange Certificates that are on Cats and the Exchange Certificates that are on Dogs.

Right now there is a certificate that we purchased from GoDaddy on Cats that needs to be moved over to Dogs as it contains all the Alternative names etc on it.  When one of my admins attempted to move it from Cats to Dogs he got an error message saying not possible as the certificate already exists in the Exchange organization.

My question is how am I able to move this certificate from Cats to Dogs before I remove Cats from the Exchange Organization?

Hope that makes sense.

Go to Cats in EMC and Export the certificate. Now goto Dogs and import the certificate. Assign the Services whatever was on cats and you are done.

We've tried that however we get the message:

Error:

Cannot import certificate. A certificate with the thumbprint 9CXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX already exists

We only see this certificate on CATS though in the EMC under Server Configuration.

saw that the certificate was on the Dogs server but without corresponding private key.  Deleted that certificate and imported again from Cats.  Assigned services to certificate and now shows on Dogs
