"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I use group policy to lock down everything on my environment - firewall, disabling unwanted services, file permissions, windows explorer settings etc. you name it.  For auditing I use third party tool - GFI Events Manager.

try it in powershell it will show you the accounts which are locked

import-module ActiveDirectory
Search-ADAccount –LockedOut

and you can enable them with
Search-ADAccount -LockedOut | Unlock-ADAccount -confirm

to set auditing have you tried Advanced Audit Policy Configuration ?

thanks everyone.  I was looking for something more specific, like a fully developed and tested powershell script(s).  I am familiar with turning on various AD auditing and using powershell to show who has what group permissions.  I'd rather not offload this to a 3rd party as all the tools necessary to accomplish this should already be there.
