3.      I do an iSCSI connection from this NEW server to the Equallogic SAN

             a.      Retain the OLD USERS/GROUPS/SECURITY/etc

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

All of the older ACL's will be associated with SID's that no longer exist so 4a is a non-starter. These orphaned SID's will still exist in the ntfs permissions. You will have to remove them.

You should always repeat always have 2 DC's and backups remember that an untested restore from a backup is just a waste of disk space and processing power.  And the 321 rule sill applies 3 backups 2 different media and 1 offsite.

Your best bet is to go through and add your new groups with the correct settings.

4b I would advise against as you will run into a situation where the reapplying of restrictions becomes ever more difficult.
