Building first mobile app in Xamarin

I just downloaded Visual Studio 2015 Community. I have Visual Studio 2010 Professional on my machine. I also purchased
and downloaded Xamarin for Android. I want to create an Xamarin app to upload data to a SQL database from an Android device.

I am not sure where to begin. Do I open Visual Studio 2015 and start from there. I bought the business version of Xamarin for Android for $999. How do I make full use of this in Visual Studio 2015?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

building an application for Android device is really not the same as building an application for a desktop.
