DVR (KCN-6304) unable to send email at alarmtriggerings

After installing my newly aquired DVR I have managed to get it to work OK,(I can connect to the cameras via internet using my iPad) but when I try to make it send me an email it cannot connect to the server. I have a feeling I might have entered the wrong data in the email section of the DVR.. I use gmail as my primary account. The email mask looks something like this:
Enable (yes)
SMTP Server (I have set smtp.gmail.com
Port (I have set 0)
Need SSL (I have set yes because my account have this)
User Name (I have set my email adress)
Password (I have set my email password)
Sender ( nothing here)
Receiver (I have set my email adress here)
Title - Alarm Message

The SMTP prot shoulde be 25 or 587
You should add a "from address".  It can be your own.

Thanks for the advice, I am still unsure how to create an application password (in additionto the one I already have?) in accounts google. Still no joy on the connectivity to email server I'm afraid.
