Installing OS from the network

Hello Experts,

I have a virtual server with role for WDS and I have also installed the MDT 2013 update 1. I created a virtual VM using the PXE boot and that worked very well. My IT staff is in a different subnet of the WDS server / MDT server and we have Microsoft DHCP server running in our organization. I would like to enable PXE boot on this subnet only and I need help to do this properly. I also want to know what information do I need from the MDT and WDS server to configure to the DHCP server.Do I need additional information on the network switch vlan interfaces ?

The subnet in the IT staff can ping the WDS server with no issues. The 2nd question I have can physical laptop boot like the virtual laptop and pic up the installation files or do I need to prepare a usb boot driver for it get the installation files.

Thank you.

Check my article
https://www.experts-exchange.com/articles/2978/PXEClient-dhcp-option-60-what-is-it-for-Can-I-use-PXE-without-it.html
and its comment. (And if it helped you, don't forget to vote for it or click on the button that says it has helped you)

Also check DHCP relay at wikipedia
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dynamic_Host_Configuration_Protocol#DHCP_relaying

You may have to add a DHCP Relay (aka ip-helper address in Cisco and ProCurve worlds) for your PXE Server if it is not on the same subnet as the node it has to serve.

As long as the nodes can get their PXE Network Boot Program, the rest should be OK if it was working when on a single subnet.
