Field validation - an easy one

Dear experts -
I have the following field-level validation on a form, which works fine. However, if a user enters text and THEN deletes it, the rule doesn't like it:
Not Like "*[!0-9A-Z _=&%@ or -]*"

Thus, I want to ALLOW A BLANK FIELD.
What do I need to change?
Thanks -

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Have you tried:

Is Null OR Not Like "*[!0-9A-Z _=&%@ or -]*"
