Email accounts - security

My OS is win 7 prof 64 bit and I use Office 365.  I have both msn and gmails which i use to access from the web.  Today I received a strange email from my gmail account addressed to my msn account, which was a spam email.  Does this mean that my gmail account has been compromised or hacked into?  Thank u for your advise.  I will change the password as a first step. Thank u.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Change the password and see what happens. Someone could have spoofed your email. If it stops after you change the password, you should be OK.

It may also mean you have malware on your PC sending spam to your email contacts.

I'd suggest running MalwareBytes to check for malware.

Or it could mean that both emails have been added to someone's spam list because they were gathered from one of your friends.  It is common for spammers to use a list to send to everyone else on the list.
