explorer is your os version

i mean internet explorer.
I have windows 7 ultimate operating system on my laptop. That means i have IE 7 by default?
But some sites are not opening giving error. Whereas same sites work on other laptop IE which has same OS and IE explorer. I wonder why?

I am getting prompts to upgrade to windows 10 OS for free but i am hesitant as that might mess up all my java environment and application servers and all.

How to upgrade to latest IE version say 11. Any detailed link with step by step instructions on it. Do i need to uninstall old IE7 and download new IE11 and then install?
I gave you a link on how to get the latest ie

See my earlier post
Just follow the link

sure. Only difference between my two laptops is one is 32 bit which does not work with all sites.
Other laptop is 64 bit windows OS which works with all the sites. Not sure how number of bits effect IE browser?
is any error displayed on web page on 32 bit OS when you opened IE.
can you paste the screenshot of that.
I never experience that this is due to OS bits.
Hi Gudii9

you can try below link to set IE as default in control panel from set default programs items.

hope this will resolve your issue
I believe Windows 7 came with IE 8 and is now up to IE 11 (current)

The most easiest way is to download latest version of IE and install on your PC. Below is the link to download IE:

Your computer has i.e. 11 installed

If you go into control panel
Then uninstall programs
Then select
Turn Windows features on or off

This will list the ie version you have installed

Let us know
Hi Gudii9,
It means you have an updated version of IE installed on your laptop as Thomas Grassi also saying this.

Only difference between my two laptops is one is 32 bit which does not work with all sites.
Other laptop is 64 bit windows OS which works with all the sites. Not sure how number of bits effect IE browser?
Now if above issue still persist you can try with below link
http://www.thewindowsclub.com/fix-internet-explorer-32bit-open-64bit-opens
By this you can set IE as default in control panel from set default programs items. Hoping that this will resolve your issue.

Have a great day ahead :)
You mention that "File, Tools, etc. is missing".  That should be straightforward to fix.  Right-click on the second line (the one below the top one with the - and X) of the IE window in a blank area.  You should see a menu that has "Menu Bar" as the first choice.  Click on it to select it and you should see the missing menu.

What are the specific errors that you are getting that is prompting all of this?
